Inquest into the Death of Michael John King

Summary

The deceased was a 48 year old Aboriginal man who at the time of his death was a prisoner at Hakea Prison. The deceased had a complex medical history which included significant pre-existing heart disease.

The inquest focused on the supervision, treatment and care of the deceased while he was incarcerated and under the care of the Department of Corrective Services.

The State Coroner found the deceased died on 15 March 2013 at Fremantle Hospital as a result of Ischaemic Heart Disease in association with Coronary Arteriosclerosis. The State Coroner found that the deceased died of Natural Causes.
