Delivered on : 7 November 2014

Delivered at : Perth

Finding of : Coroner King

Recommendations : N/A

Orders/Rules : N/A

Suppression Order : N/A

Summary : The deceased was a 69 year old when he was last seen in February 2006.

The Western Australia Police commenced an investigation on 12 January 2007 following advice that Mr Moran had not been seen or heard from for 11 months.

The last known contact Mr Moran had was a telephone call between himself and his ex-wife on 19 February 2006.  He was believed to have been in Leonora.

Extensive search by Western Australia Police have failed to locate Mr Moran after they had exhausted all possible avenues of investigation into his disappearance and possible whereabouts.

The Coroner found that Mr Moran’s age and his past medical history of stroke and pleural plaque are added factors which support the conclusion that Mr Moran is no longer alive.  The Coroner was satisfied beyond all reasonable doubt that Mr Moran had died but was unable to establish the date of death or the cause of his death.

The Coroner made an Open Finding as to how death occurred.
