Summary - The deceased was a 57 year old man who underwent a cholecystectomy at Geraldton Regional Hospital. Following the procedure the deceased’s condition deteriorated and he was transferred to the Intensive Care Unit at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital where he died on 14 May 2011.

The inquest focused on the medical management of the deceased after surgery.

The Coroner found the deceased died on 14 May 2011 as a result of multiple organ failure and intra-abdominal haemorrhage following cholecystectomy. The manner of death was natural causes.
