Summary : Muh Tuu Jeng disappeared on 7 September 1988 in the Indian Ocean in waters off Broome, Western Australia, after falling from a fishing vessel. After the Captain of the vessel notified the Australian authorities, a marine and air search was conducted, but Mr Jeng could not be located.
There was limited additional evidence available at the inquest as Mr Jeng was a Taiwanese national and no information was able to be obtained about his next of kin. However, the eyewitness evidence pointed to Mr Jeng dying in the water on 7 September 1988.
The Coroner found the cause of death was drowning and the death occurred by way of accident. The Coroner did not make any recommendations.
